Scott’s Roofing Supports Veterans with New Roof for Hero
Friday, July 26, 2024, was a special day for us at Scott’s Roofing as we had the honor of providing a new roof to Derek Ingram, a U.S. Army veteran and resident of Spruce Creek South, as part of the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project and Habitat for Humanity.
Our crew of 12 arrived at Derek’s home in Summerfield, FL, around 8:30 a.m., ready to start the day’s work. It was a hot day, but we were all motivated by the importance of this project. By around 3 p.m., we had completed the job, leaving Derek with a brand-new roof and a sense of security.
Derek’s reaction made all the hard work worth it. He expressed how overwhelming the attention and support were, describing it as “like a platoon of guys working on my roof.” Hearing him say, “I’m blessed,” was a humbling moment for all of us. It reminded us why we do what we do and how much these projects mean to the veterans we help.
As we worked, Derek shared with us how much this new roof meant to him. He had been searching and praying for a solution, and knowing that we could provide that for him was incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about putting a roof over someone’s head; it’s about giving back to those who have served our country and ensuring they have a safe and comfortable place to call home.
Partnering with the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project and Habitat for Humanity has been an honor. Since 2016, this initiative has helped over 500 veterans nationwide, and we’re proud to be a part of this mission. It’s a privilege to work alongside these organizations to support veterans like Derek.
At Scott’s Roofing, we’re committed to giving back to our community, and projects like these are at the heart of our mission. We want to thank Derek Ingram for his service and for allowing us to be a part of this journey with him. We look forward to many more opportunities to support our veterans and make a difference in their lives.
